Well. if it's not plugged into a UPS, then it could protect it from any potential surges or brownouts. It's probably a good idea to unplug it. It would also save a trivial amount of power from the +5vSB rail being on.
It wouldn't hurt anything. I usually do it when I'm away for prolonged periods. Especially if there is a good chance of thunderstorms. Our power grid is usually reliable here in Denmark, but you never know.
Yes always. I have this old monitor (I have more) and you can hear the caps whenever it's just in the plug 'humm', so yes always or get a dc with a power (off). 🙂
Doesn't hurt unplug it since you won't be using it anyway. You never know when a freak storm or other power surge will happen, and unplugging is cheap insurance.
