damnit, due to the hot weather, my cpu temperature is currently at 56c. needless to say, it is AMD athlon 2000+. it was 61c after I played cs. NYC was around 95f today, I tried to do some movies encoding, no luck, computer crashed.:frown:

Go for it.

Or get a bigger heatsink. It's 95F here right now and my CPU is doing fine. (1700+ @ 2400+ on SLK800)

unlockin has nothing to do with temp, unless you are overclockin, in which case it will make it even hotter.. get more airflow for your case, or buy a better heatsink

He's probably suggesting that he'll underclock it.

In reality though, 95F ambient temps shouldn't cause your computer to crash. You can fix it with better cooling. Unless it's already overclocked.

I wouldn't worry about it. AMD regularily tests their processors to live an optimal life averaging around 65 degrees C. Most OEM cases don't have very good airflow.

Get a bigger heatsink/fan for the CPU and add more fans to the case to improve airflow.

my bad, i misread the title...

underclockin also should have little effect... check the voltage of the cpu and lower it if possible... you might lose stability though....

Oh, LOL.. I read the title as unlock too, but I just figured he planned to underclock it.

Weird.

I guess I was close to it, I could feel how hot the case was. Before, I put the pc on top of the desk(my nephew killed a cdrw), now I put it back under the desk. I didn't worry about the cpu until I can't play a game or do some movie encodings.
it is just scary when all of a sudden you got a BSOD.

it stayed around 48c in the winter.
