Should I trade in my two 4830's for a 5770?

I already have bad company 2 preordered. Anyone think dx11 is worth the trade in. I'll be losing some frames but I can always add another 5770 later. Or maybe I can get a two 5750 right now and add a third later. My mobo can take 4.

You wont be losing some frames. You will be losing a sizable about of frames.

4830 X2= 35.3% faster than a 5770 on the core, and theoretically 51.2% faster on the bandwidth.

Real world we're talking about 30% faster than the 5770. But you and I both know the 4830 OC's really far on the core. If they are overclocked we're talking 50% faster. I don't think it's worth it for DX11.

You'd be much better off getting a quad. Pairing two decent cards in crossfire with an alright dual core doesn't make much sense.

Hrmm I didn't know a quad core would make that much difference because I don't do much encoding. All I do is play web browse and play games. I have an extra x3 425 i can put in this because it was some deal at Fry's I couldn't pass up. You think I should swap the cpu's?

...........

Overclocking reasons can not be one sided.
If so, you could say that perhaps the single 5770 could be overclocked closer to stock clocked 4830 X2 speeds.
Overclocking in most cases simply cancels out.
Overclock the 4830 and compare to the overclocked the 5770.
Also, brands make a difference.
My Sapphire 4830 would not overclock much at all.
Just got the 5770, and have not needed to overclock it yet.

Other things to consider.
Can you sell the 4830's now, for a good amount still?
If you wait, how much will the value drop?
If I could sell, I would upgrade. No buyers, then no upgrade.
The 5770 will be more future proof and could later be paired with another card.

I can probably sell my 4830's now. It's not like I do not have a spare video card. I have an extra g92 8800gts laying around. So after I sell my two 4830's I'll have something to use until I get a 5770. The question is, will I be able to play at 1920x1200 on high settings with a single 5770 on this computer. Frankly, if I'm lower than say 40 fps, gaining tessellation would not be visually stunning enough to deter me from being completely frustrated.

you should sell all the cards you have and buy a 5850 instead

you're downgrading if you get 5770 although in mem limited situations 5770 might be better.

5770 is okay for 1920x1200 but in some games you will not be able to run in max settings with 4xAA as bandwidth comes into play in some of these situations depending on the game. Heck your 8800gts will let you run fine 1920x1200 without AA with relative ease anyway.

The thing is, if I were to buy a 5850, I might as well buy two 5770's hehe

I wouldn't get 2 5770 over 5850

Scaling issues and crossfire issues you don't have to worry about.

Single to dual 5850>>>>>>>>>>> Tri-quad 5770. Without a doubt.
