The main thing that annoyed me about the PSP is that it couldn't do homebrew and the latest games, it was one or the other, unless I read wrong. You need 1.51 firmware or newer to homebrew, right? But pretty much the newer games required you to update to the newest firmware. I did love playing my GBA though.

what happened now is that there are firmware emulators. so now you can play 2.71 games on your 1.5 psp, best of both worlds

Seriously? Wow...

I'm about to ebay my v1.5 PSP...it's been gathering dust for the last year or so, I played it for maybe an hour, but i've been holding onto it for Final Fantasy 7 (which from what I heard keeps getting pushed back).

I dunno...I don't *need* the money but there's no point holding onto it till it's worthless.

haha, i didn't even know they were porting FF7 to the PSP

there are people working on a PS1 emulator for the PSP, so  for them continuing their hardwork

Dude, just research it and figure out whether you'd like it or not before you buy it. If you can't figure that out, do Walmart a favor and don't buy t.

Cool, I had no idea, I guess I am out of the loop. But i woudl still need to downgrade my firmware, since mine has been updaterd to 2.something, but there is a way to downgrade right?

Mugs, research and actual usage can be very differant. I mean even if i researched, i might know what games I would probablly like and any issues the system may have. And maybe I can deal with all that, then i buy thing and I hate the way ti fits in my hand, or somethign that i didn't find in my research, thats why I want to be able to return it if I don't like it.

But I ended up getting one yesterday along with mario kart. Its been good for the 30 minutes I have played it so far. What other games do I need to look into?

So yeah I got my DS lite and mariokart DS. I plan on also getting the new super mario game, and a couple other before I go out of town next weekend.

My brother in law is interested in buying my PSP. What do you think its worth? I have tried searching the forums to check prices, but there are a wide range of configurations and prices. Mine is a used PSP(about 20 hours of use) no dead pixels. I have madden 06 and twisted metal. Pretty sure I have the box and all original stuff it came with. I am pretty sure its at least a 2.0 firmware if not higher. I have 3x32MB memory sticks and a 2GB memory stick.

SO what is the PSP and 1 32 mb memory stick worth by itself? Then what is the whole deal worth?

DS is great for playing games.

PSP is useful for watching movies and such, not necessarily for gaming.

So it depends on what you wanna do. If you want to play fun games, then DS. If you want portable multimedia, then PSP.

I've had lots of fun/addiction with

brain age
big brain academy
mario kart
meteos
fifa 06
tetris
super mario 64
new super mario

plus there's bomberman, 3on3 hoops, zelda, final fantasy 3, age of empires, metroid
surgeon game, nintendogs...if you like that sort of thing, starfox, castlevania, animal crossing, advance wars,

etc

I'm not much of a gamer at all, but I love this gizmo, I can play a quick game or two on busride, or 30 min break or before I fall asleep

games don't require so much time commitment, but they are still fun!

I think I will be getting super mario bros, maybe big brain academy. Trying to decide between advance wars and age of empires, which do you recommend? Also will probablly pick up zelda a link to the past cause I have wanted to replay that for a while.

I found Advance Wars Dual Strike to be a little on the boring side.. but I haven't give it a chance for more than 10 minutes so don't give my opinion too much weight. On the other hand, I couldn't put Age of Empires: The Age of Kings down.

Games I own and enjoy for DS:

New Super Mario Brothers - Not much to say about it. It's Mario!
Sonic Rush - Good enough for my money, but not great.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Next best thing to SotN.
Brain Age - Overrated, but still great for under $20.
Mario Kart DS - If you find a good price, it's a great buy.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Definitely a good buy. One of my recent favorites across all systems.

Definitely looking into several others, not to mention the GBA compatibility, since my last handheld (aside from the PSP, for a short while) was the original GameBoy.

So what is the going rate for a PSP these days? Its hard to get an accurate price since many people our selling differant games and accesories with thiers. 180.00 seems to be the gamestop going rate. I am probablly gonna sell it to my brother in law, so don't want to stiff him too bad. Assuming he doesn't want either of my 2 games, or my 2GB MS(what the heck can I do with this thing, is there an adaptor or something I can buy to use it in stuff that accepts the regular size memory stick?)do you think 165.00 with everything it came with, is a good price?

Yeah you can get a mem stick adapter to convert Duo to regular size. They usually come with Duo sticks so you should already have one...
