I'm trying to decide whether or not I should give the guy who delivers my newspaper a tip. I live in a townhouse where there are 4 apartment doors adjacent to each other with a 5 foot overhang in front of all 4 doors. The guy that delivers my newspaper in the morning leaves my newspaper at least 3 feet from my front door while he puts my neighbors paper right at her front door, somtimes even leaning it against the wall so its easy for her to get without leaving her apartment while I always have to step outside to get mine. When it rains out, he sometimes leaves my paper further away near the edge of the overhang, assuring that I will get wet and that my paper will be wet. There would be no extra effort on his part to deliver my paper the same way he delivers my neighbors since our front doors are next to each other. I've never tipped this guy in the past so I wondering if this is the reason why he does this. This would mean that he purposely places my paper further away. Since tips are usually given in appreciation for good service, it's clear that the service I get is not the same that he gives my neighbor. I fell like he's extorting me to give him a tip so that my paper is closer to my door when in reality he should deliver my paper the same way he delivers my neighbors and then I can decide to tip him. Should I tip in and hope he puts my paper closer or just say screw it and continue the have my paper left where he puts it now?
