Hello everyone, I've been lurking around this board for the last couple days and have been impressed with the quality of posts i've read... I just wish i would have found it a little sooner.
I am in the process of building my first system and need to make a choice on the vid card. My mobo supports both AGP and PCI-E. I currently have the ATI x700 PRO card. However, i've been reading on the better performance in the 6600GT.
So now the question...
Does it make any sense to take back my x700 pci-e card and exchange it (plus 50 bones) for a 6600GT AGP?
Will i even notice any performance increase in games such as HL-2 and Doom3 if i did that? Furthermore, does it justify the extra $50 (i'm on a fairly tight budget)? I want to make sure i get as much "bang for the buck" out of the games as possible.
For the record here is what i'm running with currently:
MOBO
P4 3.0
1gb RAM
160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
THANKS!
