Alright, here's the deal. I live about 6 blocks from the train station here, and there is a train station less than 2 blocks from where I work. I'm working full time on co-op for the next 6 months. A monthly train pass costs me $106, and also has the added benifit of unlimited subway/bus use in the city. Round trip generally runs me about 25 miles, I get about 20 miles per gallon in my car. Given the absurd cost of gas, wear on my car, and the fact that I wouldn't really need to pay $90/month to park right behind my apartment, I'd actually save money by taking the train. Downsides, I'm working fall/winter. Do I want to walk 8 blocks in the freezing cold? Do I want the hassle of having to find street parking? Questions, questions....

Ride the train? What century are we in? How about you take the train a few days a week and ride the horse the other days.

Save money
Get exercise
Meet chicks during your commute
Commuting also makes a good excuse to buy portable electronics

Should you take the train to work? No, the train should take you to work.
Try it for a month anyhow. Gas may come down. I don't mind public transportation but if your 25mile commute means you have to fight for a seat or stand for 30min. straight on a moving train then I'd say no way. If it's clean and roomy and you don't have to put up with Bulls searching you every second day for teh terrorists tools of trade than hell yeah. Lotsa lotsa girls and the morning walk with coffee in hand and brisk weather will probably come to be your favorute part of the day.
