I figured if i scraped off the thermal pad it would have more contact with the cpu and might cool a little better.
I have a Heatsink like a Taisol CGK 744092, but the fan is a coolermaster, the fans look identical.
I have a gateway 1100 AMD t bird, is this a good idea and should i get some artic silver. I cant overclock, but i want it as cool as possible, i am also thinking of building some kind of air chiller using a peltier and some HSF's to cool the ambient air in the case.

what are you thoughts?

If I were you, I'd go ahead and scrape it off. Then I'd add some Artic Silver. It's more expensive to get that than leave it on, but you'll be glad you did.

But on the other hand, if you're not having any cooling problems, and you're not planning on overclocking then it should provide enough performance to keep your chip cool.

But if you are going to overclock, then definatly use AS.

well i think the cooler any cpu is the better its performance will be. kinda like a car for every 12 degrees you cool it you gain 1 horsepower
