Should I take a job in data entry...

Should I take a job in data entry or will it be so boring I want to kill myself? I don't know how much it pays. I'm just looking for something to hold me over until I get a real job... with my degree...

It is quite boring, but you need to start somewhere.

Pay is usually a buck or something over minimum wage.

Its an easy job though.

depends. some data entry jobs are just mindless type this into the computer as fast and accurate as you can.

i did data entry for insurance place, pretty boring stuff, but goes by decently fast with the right people.

now im doing alarm company data entry stuff, but mix in with dealer calls that you handle for switchboard and it seems like its not half bad

Sure. It will get boring, but it's generally pretty straight forward, gets you outa the house, and pays money too. 🙂

Thanks... I'll check into it then I guess. I definitely won't do it if it's only $1 over minimum wage, but I'll see what it pays before I dismiss it altogether. I do have a (sucky) job presently, but the business is being sold and I'll be out of a job then.

It's boring, but then a lot of jobs are. If you don't have any better options than take it because A job is better than NO job.

You never know where it'd take you. A person I know started in data entry and quickly got promoted because of his work ethic and smarts. His data entry position started at $20K yearly (back in the mid 1990s), and now he's making $70+K!

Give it a shot and see how it goes.
