Should I switch to Earthlink from Adelphia for ISP?

Since Adelphia is now bankrupt, would it be a good idea to switch to Earthlink coz who nows when Adelphia will shut down completely?

Anyone here use Earthlink? How fast is their DSL?

Adelphia is not going to be shut down completely...certain markets may be sold to other companies, but I would guess your (and mine!) ISP service will not be interrupted..

i love earthlink 1.5/128 since we are uckily close to a switching office we get the full speed all day in silicon valley with only one or two serious outages in almost 2.5 years. price is prolly higher than elsewhere but being a big company means less to worry about i hope).

FWIW, I've been with Earthlink DSL for a couple of months, and their tech support has been excellent. If you show them you're not a newbie, by giving them good, accurate info about your problem, they work with you to the max. 🙂

Hmm.. good question. But I am going to stick with Adelphia until the end because I am getting 3.0Mbps/128Kbps speed right now. I doubt I will find anything better for the price. Haven't had any problem with the connection until recently.

I had Earthlink for a while when I did some beta testing for them. From what I can tell they're prolly one of the best national ISPs right now. They have useful tech support and all that good stuff.

Earthlink had some pretty good DSL service when I was with them, but a friend of mine also had Earthlink and they cancelled his account for no reason and kept charging him anyway. It depends on the backbone. I had covad and my friend had pacbell. I would say stick with Adelphia, (they're pretty good for me right now) until they cancel or interrupt your service.
