Should I switch to a Radeon 7500?

A friend is offering me a belated X-Mas gift that he has no use for. It's new and has never been installed.

The card is an ATI Radeon 7500, with 64 MB DDR, and DVI out. I currently have a VisionTek Xtasy 5864 that I got from Best Buy on Black Friday a year ago. I'm using a Dell E-171FP Analog LCD monitor, so I can't utilize the DVI. I'm tempted to switch, cause I may upgrade to a digital LCD down the road.

Is the ATI a better card?

The 7500 would be slightly faster, about the same as a GF2 Ultra.

Not much of an upgrade except for the DVI thing.

Of course, if you sold or traded both for, say, an 8500......

Well, my friend installed the card in a system that is a clone of mine... same motherboard, processor, memory, etc. The only difference is I run XP, and his OS is Win 2000 Pro.

We ran 3D Mark 2001 on both machines. I scored 6596 with my VisionTek card, and he got only 4216 with the ATI. Needless to say, but I won't be switching out my card.

Obviously it's not a built by Ati card, but a much lower clocked powered by card. However, I still don't think it would best the score you got.
