Should I switch GTX570 for a GTX580?

Hi!

I have talked to the store where i bought my GTX570 1280MB OC and I can switch it to a GTX580 1536 OC for about 106 EUR (24% more).

Do you got any advice?

note : I have a i7 2600k in this computer.

Its about 5-7 FPS in diffrence for 106 EUR? That does not sound like a good deal? Then there is the memory GTX570 have 1280 MB and the GTX580 have 1536 MB. Does this enough to make it worth 106 EUR??

24% more for the gtx580 over the gtx570 is actually not terrible compared to some prices gaps I see. its probably not really worth it but if you can swing it then why not? you did not even mention your res though.

I would, if it's within your budget. Never read about any 580's blowing up from O/C'ing. Even with +1.2v pumped into them. Seems to be a better spec'd card overall.

Sorry, the resolution Im running at is 1920x1200 and I will not go higher in a long time. So I will notice the diffrence between these cards? both are capable to deliver a stabel(no lag) fps in most of the games? If I get 60 or 67 does not seems to mather?

That highly depends on what games you play.

It directly depends on how high you are when playing games in relation to how high you are when you buy video cards.

You can get a EVGA GTX 570 Classified for about $350 and overclock it to ~940mhz. They use a GTX 580 PCB with the beefier VRMs, so you can goto 1.2v with those, just like with most 580s. I can confirm this firsthand because I have two of them, myself.

I've had both cards for BF3. The difference is, the 580 can maintain a solid frame rate of 60+ without really ever dipping below that on high settings. The 570 can do it too, but it would dip between 50-60 frames. This is at 1920x1200 resolution...

Depends on how much money you have, and if you really want that performance.

Personally I dont think it makes sense,... give it a few months for new cards to come out, and the 580 will do a huge nose dive in price, and you ll be asking yourself why you spent so much for so little return (when you didnt even need it in any game).

This makes sense! But I have heard that the difrrence in performance is 20%? But I was never able to comfirm it.

on average its probably only 10-15% difference. in BF 3 its as low as just 5% on high settings at 1920x1200. http://www.techspot.com/review/458-battlefield-3-performance/page5.html

Read this article. It attempts to quantify micro stuttering. It has nothing to do with FPS. The evidence in the article led them to conclude it's due to uneven rendering of the frames.
