Ok I am getting my ass kicked in my school's Business prog. (BBA) I NEVER took any HIGH SCHOOL accounting or economics and those 2 courses are the core requirement for the degree. Now i am getting my ass kicked bad in those 2 courses. I do have some science, bio and chem courses from HS. I dunno if I shooud stick it out in the Business program or switch to the sciences.

What are the job prospect for these 2 degree? ANy suggestion and tips from you guys are welcome.

In a lot of places, the business program is relatively easy compared to sciences. Just a thought. If you're interested in life science, etc, then maybe you should switch.

I'd recommend doing some interning or volunteer work or research in those areas.

Actually I when I started college, I did do business for a year and a half. Economics, Management and math courses were a breeze, AFTER accounting I got bored of it. Plus the internships really didn't interest me at all, full of "fakers". So, sophmore year; second semester I took a break (took redundant classes; english, philosophy, music, french, russian)

In my junior year I took bio2, chem1, physics. Bio was easy since I had AP in HS, chem was quite hard and physics is tremendously easy since it is just math. Now I just do laboratory work, and go to clinics in ny area to gain experience. I love it more than business, and alot more nicer, nurtured environment.

Good luck man :) Its a good choice, but if you have the habit on not working on a subject, you will fail again unless you really put effort into it.

Did you take Calc based physics or alegbra. Physics is teh HARDEST SHIET.

ok, well i was originally a molecular bio major. i added a second major last year - economics major w/ a business management track concentration. trust me, if you think your business classes are hard, you're gonna get whooped up by your life sciences classes. interstingly enough, neurbiology was one of the more difficult classes i had to take.

in terms of job opportunities, it really depends at what school you go to. i'm looking into management consulting. although the top firms take people from ANY major, they only recruit from brand name schools. you should go to you career center NOW. trust me and do it early.

stick w/ your current major if you like it. just work hard.

Hehe, that is why I stuck to bio/chem. Neurology is the damn hard stuff, that's the reading that keeps you up 'till 4 am and you can't feel your face afterwards :(

Neo, how did you get a double major? Counselers in my schooled pretty much barred me from finishing up some management courses and while doing that take some chem courses. I would have done what you did, except I was not allowed, so i took those 4 courses. Man you're lucky :)

well, that's wierd. your school really shouldn't prevent you from adding majors. i know people that have pursed triple majors here. how were your grades? the only thing i can think of is that you had a low gpa. counselors use historical data to determine whether students will perform well under certain conditions. you may have crossed their "approval line."

thanks for your reply. My math skills are average, not too shabby nor genius. I am not going into engineering or stuff.. just biology or life/evironmental science. KGB, any tips to improve math skills?

In economics and accounting, all the stuff they are teaching are from HS review, which unfortunately I did not take in HS :( Now one lecture is like 2 months of HS materials.

HS is pretty important, but remember university schedule doesn't give the same amount of time HS used to give, its 15-17 weeks of classes. You have to make the best of it, specially for chem/physics.

You need very good math skills, knowledge of metric system, and my calc classes were messed up.. No GRAPH calculators. Until past the midterm in calc2 did we use ti-86/89's Some profs are harsh.. :( My advice man, take the learning center (if there is one) and buddy up with a tutor. If you're shy and timid, DONT BE...suck it up cuz you don't want to be getting a C in that class.

My gpa was descent at the time, but counselers just were concerned as to why I took business before and wanting to add medical major. So I switched totally, after I take my MCAT's and get my md after med school, I think I'll go back to business.

What good is a good doctor without good business skills ;) :p

dont switch because you think bio/science is easier, it is definitely not. pchem is a killer!
