Should I split up my CDROM and HHD?

Right now I've got them both on the primary IDE. Should I give them each their own or does it really matter?

if you only have those 2 devices (one hard drive, one cd-rom) then it would be better if they were each master on their own channel. this makes a difference when they are both being accessed at the same time, such as installing a program from a cd or copying files from a cd. just be sure that the jumpers are set properly (each would be set for master with no slave)
