Should I spend the extra $400 to get 3D?

I'm looking at picking up one of those 70" Sharp LED-LCD's. They come in like 5 flavors from a 120 Hz 2D version (~$1800) up to a 240 Hz 3D version (~$2800). The step down from 3D to 2D Knocks about $400 off the price. I don't do a lot of gaming, but I do some and I use my PS3 as my DVD/Blu-Ray player.

I have absolutely no experience with watching 3D media. Should I pay the extra $400?

Extra $400 to damage your eyes, your vision?

This is only an assumption, but I would think that outside of a half dozen movies a year and future games this wouldn't be used too often, but I take it that you're saying even when done well I might not be pleased with 3D. So a lot of people buy 3D and end up never watching it?

My brother got a 3D set and while it's kind of cool, me personally I wouldn't pay extra for it.

I wouldn't pay significantly extra at this time. $50-$100? Maybe... It wouldn't be a deciding factor though.

I once knew a Boy in the "Old Neighborhood" who:

* Became Cross-eyed
* Grew hair all over his Hands
* and his head finally Exploded

As a result of 3D...Or was it Porn??

Bought a 3D panel yesterday - it's a passive model (I hate active 3D) and I am already bored with it, and probably will use it once a month or something...

So no.
