?

Its not an expensive model, so im not really worried about it being stolen. Shipping it via UPS.

Just received four HD-DVD players via UPS, all shipped in the factory box only. No damage luckily. Personally, I would for the added safety.

Well, if you want to make sure it gets there OK, you could maybe either wrap the DVD player in bubble wrap or add peanuts or wadded newspaper to the box wherever the styrofoam isn't, whatever fits.

However, I usually wrap the outside of the box in the rolled corrugated cardboard if it is in the original factory box. Makes the box a bit sturdier, and nice and clean for adding shipping info to it, too.

Don't blame the UPS driver, the fault usually lies with the the sorters and preloaders and overloaded conveyor belts. Light packages say the size of a dvd player tend to get thrown, stood on, crammed into spaces too small, dropped, kicked, sat on, climbed on. If its not leaking or protruding glass it gets delivered. I handled missorts and damaged packages and overweight items was my job mostly. Lets just say there was a few, and when in christmas season it gets ugly.

USPS won't accept these many times.

If the item is cheap...single box unless it's a crappy box. If not, double boxing is always best. You can avoid it if you know the factory ships the units in only their factory box as well.

Most electronics are reboxed in larger boxes for shipping though.
