I have just gotten an XP 1800+, and I am going to go in and do some general system work (It's a pain to get my
case out of it's little cubby, so I only do it so often. I'm going to open it up and blow out the dust, maybe
replace the case fans, etc, etc. While I am in there, I am going to put AS-3 on the CPU, and I was wondering if I should
put a shim on the CPU. I have a MSI K7T-Turbo and I'm using a Taisol GCK760092 with the CPU?

Here are the 2 shim's I'm considering:

Blue anodized non-conductive shim for $3.99
Non conductive Athlon XP Shim

Thanks.

If you feel like you might crack something it might be helpful. But I removed my hs hundreds of times before I got shims for my systems. I like building them w/ shims now just for the added safety. I have 2 of those nonconductive shims that you have a link 2 (the mineral one now the aluminum one) and they work fine. I also had a Taisol 760CGK and it worked great...I love that clip.
