Should I sell my Radeon 9500 PRO?

Hi,

now this is a dilemma... I've just ordered the new parts for my "Project Upgrade":

- Barton 2500+
- Abit NF7-S v2.0
- Corsair TWINX512-3200LL DDR-DIMM 512MB (2x256MB)

I already have a Connect3D Radeon 9500Pro (128MB), and I thought I should stick with that for a while longer. But now it seems people want to buy it. What should I do? I'm in Europe, so I'm converting the currency here:

I paid about $200 for this card in february, now I have two offers at $150 - if I want to sell it... I'm aware that this card is at least as good/better than the Radon 9600 Pro. So if I sell it, I would go for a 9800Pro or a GeForce FX 5600/5900. But what should I do?

Is the 9500 Pro still so good that I should keep it, considering I would like to play HalfLife 2 (when that one arrives...). Perhaps I'm just stunned by the fact that I have the option of selling a graphics card without much of a loss...

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Unless you plan on replacing it with a 9700 Pro/9800 Pro, I would keep it. With a little luck, you can OC it for higher performance, if needed. I think a lot of people would be happy to buy it from you for $150 US.

I probably wouldn't upgrade. The current higher end ati cards aren't going to offer that huge of an upgrade, primarily a 256bit memory interface (9700 pro is the exact same core). That would help in some situations in dx8 games, but I doubt it will help all that much in hl2. And then we know the nvidia cards didn't do too good in the hl2 benchmarks.

I'd sell it and pick up a 9800 non-pro for < $250 . The upgrade will be worth it 😉.

agreed, then you can oc the 9800 and have an even bigger preformance boost.
