I doubt we will see big changes in the short term either way, and it is hard to see where the long term will go. The things to look for are situations like when the 9700pro came out with a bang and there was nothing comming anytime soon to match it, I got in at $4.28 then and got out at $16.23.

Wasn't AMD going to buy all the outstanding shares of ATI stock for higher than market value, or exchange them for AMD stock or something?

You should see what the buisness and stock sites are saying. I did read that ATI stock got downgraded, but that may or may not affect price.

Personally I think stocks are more like Vegas and it's more of an odds game.

If you have held them for more than a year to qualify for the capital gains tax rate of 15% I would sell on the first sign of the stock price falling.

I'm holding, but that may just be me. Oh and here are the terms from the newswire:

Under terms of the transaction, AMD will acquire all the outstanding shares of
ATI for a combined $4.2 billion in cash and 57 million shares of AMD common
stock. This amounts to $16.40 per share in cash and 0.2229 shares of AMD stock,
which, based on Monday's intra-day price of $17.14, is a total price of $20.22
per share.
