Should I sell my A64 4000+ and replace it with a A64 3800+ x2?

I know the x2's are pretty overclockable. Thinking about selling my 4000+ and getting the dual core chip. Your thoughts? Would it be worth doing?

depends on the price difference between the sale and the purchase imho , the X2 will definatly provide you with more horsepower.

If you can, the go for it. You can OC the chip to 4000+ speeds, and then it'll be like you have 2 4000+'s.

EDIT: actually it'll be more like you have 2 3800+'s, because it's 512kb cache per core, 4000+ is 1mb cache.

I would wait, until later as the 4000+ is pretty fast. But it depends on what you're using it for. If it's just regualr computing and gaming definately not.

I'm a fairly heavey multi-tasker. Typically I have anywhere from 700MB to 1GB of memory being used from various apps and such that are running. I'm wondering if that since I do have such a heavy memory load that it would give me a better overall expierence in games and apps than even the 4000+ does.

Games will suffer a little bit even with X2 due to decrease in mem bandwidth available when multitasking but an X2 would simply pwn 4000+ when it comes to multitasking . . . that's exactly what the X2s are built for . . .

You said it yourself. You're a heavy multi-tasker. X2 3800 will definitely do better than a 4000 in that regard.

If you're worried about gaming performance, the 3800 should not lose out to the 4000 if you OC it.
