just how much of a performance hit will i get running my memory now at 800 mhz rather than 1066 with the fsb. my cpu is not overclocked.

Not a noticable difference. Benchmarks make it faster but you wont catch it being slow.
Actually your good @ 800, try to reduce the latency of the RAM with tighter timings

Why cant you use divider and make that 800 more like 900Mhz ,, drop the multiplier to 8 ,,,,,,,,,,gl

A 1066 FSB is quad-pumped on S775. Which means that the FSB base clock is really only 266Mhz. DDR2 memory is double-pumped, so that means that DDR2-800 memory has a base clock of 400Mhz. There is no performance benefit on S775 to running RAM faster than FSB speed. So in truth, you would be maxed out with DDR2-533 memory. If you put DDR2-800 in there, so much the better. That gives you overclocking headroom, you can increase your FSB base clock to 400Mhz, using a 1:1 RAM:FSB ratio. That would give you a max speed of 3.6Ghz, or 400 * 9.

ahhh.. that does sound familiar, i kinda just thought 1066 fsb is 1:1 if memory is at 1066 at well

Drop the multiplier from auto or 9 to,,, 8

Then raise your FSB

As you raise the FSB your memory frequency will go up too,, so you need to use divider. Just go to memory frequency and downclock the RAM ,,, gl
