Should I ride my bike to work tomorrow?

I'm planning on driving out to a safe location (where I don't have to cross a four-lane bridge over a freeway with no bike lane) and riding my bike into work from there.

Sound good?!

That'll work.

Have you tried getting detailed area maps and working out a safer route (even if it's a bit longer). I shelled out the $30 or so for the super-detailed Atlanta Metro atlas and it was worth every penny. My route to work is probably two miles longer than the direct (as if I were driving) route, but it's much safer and quieter.

Drive to the parking lot at work and then ride your bike to the front door. 😀
Then mop your brow and say "Wow.....seventy miles sure went by fast."

The chicks will dig it. 😛

Problem is, there's construction on the route that could be construed as safer, and it'd be quite dangerous to do so. That's the problem with living in Ann Arbor...living downtown is VERY bike friendly, but if you get about 2 miles outside the city, it's hell when you try to ride a bike. 🙁

Get a map and be creative. My route goes through a couple areas that aren't accessible to cars, so there might be ways through you just haven't figured out yet.

Ooh, good point! I'll keep an eye out for paths that are away from the road...thanks!
