should i return my Nf7-S (i think it overvolts) and the burned t-bred B (NOT RMA'ing) it and go for a 2.4C and maybe an IS7?
this is the second chip excaliber has sent to me and seemingly burned
should i ask for a refund on those two (because they're both faulty) and get the p4 instead?

i have a separate system of a 1700+ @2.2ghz (200x11), will a 2.4C beat that at stock? how about overclocked to say 3ghz? 3.2ghz?

thanks

would it also be faster to just refund and buy the p4? my bro's getting pissed at having to wait for the RMA's and stuff
note: possibly excaliber may have sent me back the same CPU that i RMA'ed to them...has anyone else had this?
and would a retail cooler befine for p4 2.4C overclocking?

i was under the impression that abit boards undervolt, but either way, the 2.2 is MUCH faster than a 2.4 @ stock and it will run with it when oced to 3.0. the athlon wont be faster, but it will put up a good fight

agreed...

the abit nf7-s undervolts not overvolts and it's hard to believe you've killed two processors...

i guess the luck of some people huh?

but yes, the 2.2 ghz tbred will put up a fight against a 3.0 p4 but the 3.0 will most likely win out especially in encoding divx and other things...

what about general gaming at 1280x1024 and AA/AF on?
would the athlon or p4 do better (one has 9500pro , other's gonna get 9600pro may oc this)?
should i get a retail processor (will this make a difference?), if i do, probably gonna get the barton 2500+

i don't think im gonna get anywhere near 1200FSB if i get a p4C, more likely around the 270's probably so about 3.2ghz
which will perform better?

I meant 1200mhz quad pumped :D so more like 300mhz. I just like saying ghz fsb, it sounds nice :). 3.2 @ 270fsb > 2.2 xp @ 200fsb

i know that its quad pumped, otherwise if i wasn't quad pumped and still 800...or imagine quad pumped 800, 3200 w/o mults

yeah, but the 1700+ is sooooo much cheaper. i mean, i was running 3dmark today and i was getting 300+ FPS on the gothic one with my 1700+@ 2.2 and i was thinking to myself why the hell do i need 322 FPS, with all the eye candy on i have no trouble getting more than enough frames with my CPU and a 9700 Pro in any game
