Should I return my Ipod Touch? I'm having memory issues

Hello,

I have about 1,200 songs on my ipod 95% which have album cover art (500x500 resolution or higher). I just bought an Ipod Touch 2g 16gb and when I first started using it, if I tried to use cover flow while listening to a song it would crash and go back to the home screen. I then just tried listening to songs and every song would crash to the home page. I took it to a "Genius" and he put 100 songs on and amazingly it didn't crash (/sarcasm). He claimed my music must have had problems (all Mp3's, 25% of it from Itunes/Amazon), and suggest I restore my ipod without backing it up. I did this and it has played songs all day so far for about 8 hours and has crashed only twice on completely random songs. I tried playing a song while cover flowing, then switching songs and it crashed! I didn't realize the Ipod touch only has 128mb of RAM. I don't think I have a faulty ipod, I just think it can handle my music. Should I return my ipod? Thanks

I would try switching for another one. I had a fairly brief ownership of a Touch and used in a similar manor and did not experience any of those issues. I would imagine if it was a device flaw the problem would be more wide spread. Switching songs using coverflow is a pretty darn common procedure.

Zune Vs regular iPod is debatable.

Zune Vs Touch is not. I would take an 8 gig Touch over a 120 gig Zune. I love space, but next to the Touch the Zune is a pile of dog shit. Besides my town has free wi-fi everwhere, and my Touch has an app to let me stream music from my PC anywhere I'm at with internet. So basically I have unlimited storage. I just ran the app and my song list is coming up with 145,000 songs in it. I wanna see that done on any Zune. So I have far more music, a far better UI, full internet and umm whatever you I forgot to mention. Touch > Zune x 1000 x another 1000

OP I had my Touch about 95% full with hi res cover art and had no issues. You might have a bad Touch, mine has never crashed, aside from when I caused it to due to me messing with it via jailbroken apps.

Couple of Qs about that app for ya.

First, what app do you use for that.
Second, are you listening to the music through the app or does it play ipod style as if the song was on the device? The reason that may matter is sound quality. I've never used my iphone for music but if I could stream my whole collection it might be nice if the quality is solid.

it's called XBMC stream, you need XBMC installed on your PC for it to work (it's free) There are other streamers but I have not tried them. The UI is the same as normal, album covers and all. SQ sound the same to me, there is a slight delay before it starts while it buffers, maybe 1 second. After that I don't even remember the music is technically not even on my Touch.

When I take my Touch to a friends for Poker, I hook it up to his stereo and BOOM all my music is right there.

I would be interested to find another music streaming app, I know thet exist.

The big one I've heard of is 'simplify media'. They just released simplify media 2 which is supposed to be good, but I have a feeling this streaming music thing won't be up to par with my snobby SQ needs. It'll be nice to have though in the car and such when it doesn't matter as much.

I would swap it, I don't think my iPhone has ever crashed playing music in the 2 years i've had em (1st gen and 3G).
