Should I return Dell 2412m? Can't get both monitors to match

I just picked up a second Dell 2412m, but am having severe issues getting the two monitors to match. I tried both with my i1 display 2 as well as with my colormunki display. Tried calibrating manually using color HCFR and with the automatic Xrite software. Nothing is getting the two monitors to match, one is tinted bluish and the other is tinted green/yellow. I verified that they are measuring the exact same luminance and everything.

I don't understand why the Xrite software won't build matching profiles....

Here's a pic of the same grey box split over both monitors. You can clearly see that they are tinted differently despite the hardware calibration.

Is this just the nature of these monitors or should I return it and try again?

habe you just tried manually correcting it by using the monitor's custom rgb profile?

had the same problem, and since my wallpaper (mirrored) is mostly blue, green and grey, it was really noticeable. I lowered the blue on the blue-tinted one, recal'ed and problem solvd.

I had to alter my 2412M's RGB and contrast settings to wash away odd tinting.

Nothing else worked.

It was really annoying next to my 2312HM which was perfect out of the box. Now they match.

If this doesn't work for you, swap it out.

These are the settings that I plugged into my LCD's OSD :

R 100, G 94, B 99.

Contrast 80. Worth a try, as just a starting point.

My 2412M looked like the LCD on the left on your pic. Now the colors are what they should be.

you mentioned an X-Rite which makes me think that you're doing some serious graphic work with these monitors. do you need color accuracy for work that is to be printed?

I tried color calibrating a dell ultrasharp monitor years ago only to learn that no adjustment in the world (that the Dell is capable of) would ever get the monitor where it should be for print work.

if it is just for pleasing the eye while working onthe2 monitors I'd just vote for manually adjusting the settings until you get a match.

Are you using the same connection inputs for each? That could have some effect I believe.

I have two U2412Ms and have got them to *almost* match each other with a couple hours of tweaking. The RGB and contrast/brightness settings are quite different on each screen. They're not kidding when they say that each panel is unique.

Are you sure you've got the same settings on both monitors? Unless the monitors are actually defective the i1 should definitely correct any such between-panel differences.

Triple check the monitor settings, calibrate again and if that fails then contact Dell.

Have you looked at the screens while you are upside down? Your eyes may be mismatched.............🙂
