Should I resolve this?

Anyhow a month or so ago, I applied for my first real credit card.
A Citicard Student Platinum Select. So first I applied online, and a few weeks later they wanted me to send them information for verification (A student ID or Tuition Bill+Utility bill). They needed a student ID with an enrollment sticker, but my school doesn't use enrollment stickers, so I just included a copy of my student ID, and in addition I also put in my paid tuition bill that has my address. Today, I get a letter from them telling me my application was not approved since they couldn't verify my address and phone number.

The thing is, that was completely it. The end. They didn't give any other information, no return address for further inquiry, no requested information, nothing. Just you were not approved for the following reason: _______. That's it.

My question is, would this matter at all with regards to me applying for a card from a different place (Amex Blue)? (frankly, Citibank is getting on my nerves, since it's been more than a month since I first applied). Would it be negative if I don't resolve this?

So the fact that I have one inquiry (I'm assuming) on my credit history shouldn't matter right? (When Citibank started my credit history when I applied)

It shouldn't make any difference since you basically have no credit.

Interesting... so I was declined by Amex (Blue for Students).
"Your American Express Acquisition Risk Score is too high (See below)
Insufficient established credit."

Blegh, thought the whole point of student cards was that you had no credit... I think that means I should try to go back to Citibank somehow before I get excessive declines.

and your post is probably longer than your credit history.

Actually I have a very long credit history. My credit history starts at the age of 14.

Edit: Mistake credit history starts when I was 14 not 12, It was my freshman year of high school.

Anyhow... is Citibank one of those companies that have American support during normal business hours (and Indian off-hours)?

If it is like Chase than no, it will have Indian support all hours.

did you recently move?

and yes, it does matter that you applied to another card. Your denial may not be a result of it, but they will factor it in (no, credit checks do not lower your credit score).

No.
Though one thing I don't understand is this. Here were the options for me to verify:

* Copy of Student ID w/ enrollment sticker
Or
* Paid Tuition Bill + Utility Bill

However, at the time thinking I was being smart, I decided to include my Paid Tuition bill in place of an enrollment sticker. Which I guess now meant they also wanted a utility bill. [How on earth they would verify the address or phone # when the first option listed was just the ID Card is beyond me]

- I guess I will have to try calling again during normal business hours, after unsuccessfully trying to fix this with Indian support (no idea if they knew what I was doing)
