OK, my friend has some generic win98 PC he got at a computer show for $399.
It works just fine for his needs. (Email, MS-Word, Internet.)
Its some lowgrade socket7 (AMD k6-2 450) with 128MB PC100 RAM
Modem, sound, everything is onboard, which is fine, but we dont have drivers for any of the onboard stuff.
I want to move him to windows 2000, and it doesnt detect all that.
So........
As you know, those motherboards are generally crap.
Barely any free slots.
No drivers for the stuff.
I figure I'll just replace it with a new Socket7 MB.
Good idea? Bad idea?
I dont want to blow a load on this, and a 3 year old MB will be just fine.
Remember he's running (AMD k6-2 450) with 128MB PC100 RAM
I dont want to replace that.
I just as well would also prefer all the onboard stuff again (sound, video, modem)
And I want it to come with all win2000 drivers.
Can anyone suggest a good deal ?
I hope there is some deep discount vendor that sells older MB's for cheap.
Thanks for any help !!
