Wait for a newer card?

What is wrong with crossfire 1900's?

I was really getting tired of the random flicker in my 1900XTX and jumped on the 8800GTX bandwagon and have to say I am less than thrilled. The drivers, non existent line drawing acceleration, and poor scaling of this card kind of kill the thrill so to speak. Sure if you want 20k 3DMark scores, it's fantastic but most don't sit there and watch 3DMark all day. Even if I could I would not. ;)

Nothing really is wrong with them, i just wanted some opinions on what the difference would be. Mainly heat and power consumption are the only concern.
my PC&C 750W PSU gets quite the workout at load, and both get pretty hot, but i know the GTX is quite hot as well.
I know one GTX will outdo both my cards even in crossfire mode.

thanks!

The heat and power would be less, and the performance would be a little better, but I don't think it would be worth what it would cost you.

Agreed. How much $$$ do you have in the XTs? Over $400?

I would keep them another year and then upgrade.

that would be a minimum for EACH :(

it is just a thought ATM really, nothing set in stone.
I figure i could sell the ATI's or build another system with them.

True. My Son has 2 X1800GTO's in crossfire and 3DMark 05 is 18,224. I'm sure your performance is even better. I wouldn't waste my money. He's holding out for R600 before he makes any move to DX10.
Sit tight and watch the prices drop very soon!

True, i usually don't recommend waiting, but i am now.

By the time Vista and DX10 is worth having, (ie. SP1, driver maturation, available games etc.) there will be many more choices available.
