Should I repaste my G751?

It's over a year old so the warranty is expired. I've been gaming and overclocking it for about 6-8 months now. Should I open it up and repaste it? Temps get pretty high while gaming, high 80s Celsius. Please, share your opinions!

If the paste was correctly applied in the first place, there should be no reason to reapply. The common mistake made is putting too much on. It should be scraped very thin so as not to have any excess that can ooze out. The purpose is simply to fill in microscopic pores in the metal surfaces. High temps are often normal with games, but 80C is a bit too high for my taste. How is your overall cooling set up?

I'm not sure what you mean by overall cooling. The G751 has two fans which draw air through the keyboard and exhaust out the back. 80c is a low temp under load - typical temps for this laptop are 89-90c.

In my world, 80C is too hot. Must you overclock? Maybe time to consider liquid cooling.

I guess Asus didn't put very good cooling in this laptop - other brands don't hold high temps like this.

Intel XTU shows thermal throttling on the CPU sometimes, and I've seen it hit 93c.
