When I'm using my laptop and its plugged into the wall, should I remove the battery to preserve its life?

You don't need to.
It's only gonna last about 2yrs or 300-500 cycles anyway.
Whether you use it or not.

I bought a Laptop from Bestbuy and purchased the service plan. Anyone know if the service plan covers replacement batteries and how they determine if you are eligible for a replacement?

Tyg,
Yes the batts are covered under the warranty... Now as for how they send you a new one and all you would want to contact BBY or the Provider of the PSP...

I bought the same BB Toshiba laptop.

The manual clearly said that leaving the battery with the power plug in
will worsen the battery life in the long run.
Constantly charging the battery @ its maximum potential over a long period of time,
compromise the battery ability to give accurate reading on its power-level....etc....

I don't know if Toshiba is extraggerating, but I"m keeping mine off till I heard a more
scientific explanation of either direction.

Guess it would've helped if I read the manual. lol.

Did you buy the service plan for an extra $100?

If you like leaving it in leave it in, if you like taking it out take it out.
Either way it's only gonna last about 2 yrs or 300-500 cycles end of story.
Read the info here and then do as you like with it.

I leave it in, underside heat is not an issue with my laptop (zt3000). The heat is what kills a battery early on. Previously, I had a Dell that became a hotplate underneath and the battery went out shortly after a year.
