Should I read Angels and Demons before The Da Vinci Code?

School is ending and I'm looking for something to read on a long ass flight back home..

Should I read Angels and Demons first or just go straight to Da Vinci Code?

I just finished reading A&D but haven't read Davinci Code yet. I was under the impression that A&D came first in the timeline.

By the way....damn good book.

Why? I'm sure that most people who frequent these forums are smart enough to know that it is a fictional novel and should be read as such.

Angels & Demons was a waaaay better book. I didn't like the Code so much. Oh well...

I agree that A&D was the better of the two. Da Vinci Code simply didn't live up to the hype. I read A&D first, but you can read Da Vinci first and it wouldn't matter. A&D introduces the main character of both novels, but there isn't much character development of him in A&D and I think Da Vinci only makes a few minor references to the events in A&D, but no spoilers.

I enjoyed reading both books, they are both entertaining. I prefer A&D though, I thought it was a more gripping overall read. You don't have to read them in a particular order, either way is fine......

A&D is the better book and both follow the exact same formula. Read A&D first to maximize your enjoyment of it.

A&D does come first, both chronicalogically and in quality, but the stories are so very little tied together that you can read one without the other. A&D just gives you a little more insight into the main character's persona.

if A&D was the better book, DVC must really suck!

the first 5/6 were great, then it turned into the dumbest ending of all time, capped off by the worst ending line... something along the lines of "you've never screwed a yoga master before"

Despite all that, I would still like to take an "angels and demons" walking tour of Rome someday.
