Should I raise the resolution?

I just finished connecting my PC to my 32 inch HDTV LCD and I noticed that I can raise the resolution beyond the TVs 1366 X 768 setting but I'm wondering if I should do this. I've heard that you can damage a TV by going to high on the resolution beyond its spec and I'm worried. I can go to 1600 X 900 and 1920 X 1080 on the setting but will there be any benefit to doing this? Thanks.

No, you can't goto those resolutions on a 32'' LCD TV that has a maximum output of 720p, like you said it does.

Your video card/computer may tell you that you can, but when you try it won't be able to. For my Dell W3201c when you try to go beyond it's maximum resolution it just brings up an error on the screen that says it cannot display that resolution. I'm not sure what it would say for your particular model but I don't think it would damage the TV, no.

Well, if it takes 1080i/p, you could output that from the PC. But the TV would just scale it back down to 1366x768, so there's little point.

If you can run at the screen's native resolution, it's best to do that.
