Should I put System Mechanic back on the PC?

I'm reinstalling programs after installing my new SSD and I'm wondering if I should bother putting System Mechanic back in. Does it really add value to a modern win 7 system?

If that's one of those speedup and tweak packages, I'd say no, but I've never used it. What's it's awesome feature that can't be done without?

I find most of those system optimizer packages aren't worth the trouble. The default disc scanner and degrag that come with Windows are more than adequate for basic upkeep and if you do a little research you can clean up your registry yourself. As for your SSD, I wouldn't trust any aftermarket disk management software with access to it. There are normal procedures that are done to hard disks that are dangerous to SSDs from what I understand.

This!

Also good advice:

don't use anything with Mechanic in it (like Registry Mechanic, System Mechanic). Those sometimes cause more problems than they are worth.

And as Anteaus said, those programs actually cause harm to the SSDs and cause them to fail faster.
