making a new case for my desktop, alum. chenming (sp?) case like the antec sx10xx.

2 80mm front (in)
1 80mm side window (in)
2 80mm back (out)

system:

dual 1.4 tbird (stock hsk)
2x 52x cdrw
2x 80gb SE hdd
1x 60gb hdd
1x 40gb hdd
gf3 ti4600
audigy ex (probably dosen't put out much heat anyway...)
on a tyan s2460 mobo w/ enermax 431 psu

so there is a bit of heat in that case when i get things going... would it be smart to put two 80mm's on top, or maybe a single 120? thanks in advance 🙂

Considering you have the side intake, the blowhole wouldn't be deemed worthwhile enough. There is plenty of air circulating in there where you need it, but without the blowhole, there will still be some hot air trapped up top. I don't use side intake as it just puts in to much dust, so have a thermally controlled 80mm on top of mine.
