Should I post my IT resume on major job boards?

Should I post on major job boards like indeed, dice, careerbuilder, monster, etc or should I just stick to applying directly on a company's website?

I'm concerned about current company finding out and the number of spam I'll get. However, I'm pretty open to receiving notice on potential opportunities out in the job market related to my career interests. While I do get occasional inmails from LinkedIn, nothing has come of interest to me.
 
If you are looking for work then post directly and on job sites. Is your current company policy such that if they do find out you are looking for work they can can you?
 
If you're looking, or passively interested in offers just to see what's out there, I don't see an issue. Of course it also depends on your current employer's attitude towards that. Some companies like MS and Google do not allow you to go work somewhere else in the same industry, so they would be pretty pissed to see that you are potentially looking at doing just that.
