Should I place my center channel above my DLP, or just below?

And if I place it above (i.e. resting on the top of the tv), do they make some kind of makeshift ledge to let it sit there without the worry of it falling off?

Ear level is preferable so under usually but I have the center channels in both of my systems above (one probably 8' off the ground, the other about 5') just because it was logistically much easier to put it there.

Well for me, ear level would be the dead center of the set 🙂

Then either get some duct tape or just put it wherever is more convenient. 🙂

Whatever gets the center tweeter closest to the height of the tweeters in the front left and right speakers. If you end up putting it on top of your TV putting something under the speaker to angle it toward the listening position can help.

I built a shelf above the DLP, so that it didn't rest on the TV. It's bit higher than the front speakers, but I have it angled down. Below the TV is too low. That would be lower than any other speaker other than the sub.

 That's exactly what I use! Check my sig for pics of how it looks on a DLP. I also used a little laser guide to have it point to ear level. I used a little door stop under the speaker to adjust and make sure it points to my ear level. 🙂

EDIT:

Here's the link in case you have sigs disabled. DLP Speaker Shelf

More true than 'ear level'...tweeters all the same height and distance from the listening.
