sticker is 31,985 for a 2012 gt prht with premium + suspension package.
end of the year and 2013's out already. they offered me 25,985.

should i hold out to try and eek out another few hundred?
i'd buy a used s2k but that would get stolen inside of a week.
nobody steals miatas

want to set it up with rpf1's and take it to the track along with my evo

I would love a PRHT with said packages. Looks like a good deal. I say go for it. Those NC Miatas kick major ass.

for that money you could buy a used cayman. Get a 1.8 first gen miata. Lighter, cheaper, whats not to love.

Spend 5k then spend another 5k at flying miata and your golden!!

Yes buy a miata but also yes buy a much MUCH cheaper miata. $27k sounds like a pretty good deal though.

<--- Owns a 95 so biased

i just like the looks of the new ones, and the prht is a bonus as we wouldn't have to remove/store it if we got one for an NA or NB. the wife doesn't like the looks of the older miatas either.

plan to do suspension and a turbo eventually.

so go with an 06+ NC miata and save yourself 15k+ that will buy you the full targa miata kit from Flying miata. (supercharger included) be a way better spending of 30k

Dunno if you can install a roll bar with the PRHT, so would it be 'track-able?'

Black2na has good advice re: getting an older NC Miata.

agree with the MANimal, used cayman money

I would either wait for the new model Miata as its getting long in the tooth IMO, or get an earlier NC and mod it

hmm never thought about a cayman but looking for a convertible so the boxster is the same? are they pretty reliable? guess the boxster S is the one to grab.

any particular year to avoid? i doubt i'd find something in the 25-30 range earlier than a 2006 or so

cheaper used miata. Because you have to weigh in the costs of prepping the car properly for the track like brakes, roll bar, racing seat, suspension, seperate wheels and tires for track use...etc. It adds up

plus a new car will quickly lose it's new car paint from all the debris hitting your front the first day you are at the track.

The Boxster engine has to be accessed from underneath. So even though they're cheap and fun, they suck to maintain

Basic maintence like oil and suspension if you have the right tools isnt horrible. Working on say a fiero is worse lol

this and this

really your first idea of a s2k isnt that bad if you know how to keep a car in the power band like they do it in the toegay 😛

tougue or whatevers its called

dont really rule out a first gen boxster S. Other than the IMS its really stout and great out the gate. The steering feel and progressive brakes out the gate and the turn in at speed is something all drivers should experience. Dont get one though if you want to boost. Its just too expensive of a platform for power adders. Same for cayman unless you want to go supercharged. If you do that consider you will need a ton of other shit that just adds up.

Since you mentioned boosting as an eventuality then any miata will do. When it comes to the wife caring about the aesthetics tell her the cheaper the car the less she should care. Hell get her a 3k chrystler sebring for herself should she want a toy car.

I'd wait to see if the 2013 S2000 hits dealerships this year, but I know that feeling of having an itch for something new.

Yes get a NC Miata 😀

Don't buy new. They depreciate like crazy. You can find loaded 2006+ PHRTs for under $20k with low miles

Another vote for a lightly used NC, and spend the difference on a Targa Kit like Black2NA suggests.

Or an NB Miata...

Or an NA Miata...

If you're looking for something to bomb around the track on you really can't go wrong.

I own a NC2 (2011 PRHT GT).. I love it.. bought it with 5K on it for 24K.. Retail was 31.. so your deal for a 2012 still can be worked a bit.. but overall a great deal for something with the suspension package. I wish mine had that...

I love my PRHT.. 🙂
