I have the 812c and love it, HP makes great printers. However, realize that your main expense will be ink, not the printer. Retail cost for 812 carts is $32 each!! :Q

Well it depends on what you use it for. I print lots of "invoices" and labels for sales (makes ya look professional ;)). My black cart lasted around 2 months, using it on and off. I've heard of refill kits that allow you to fill the carts up for lots less then the cost of a new one. A search here, or on a major search engine should give you further information on refill kits.

you should get an epson. their ink heads are NOT replaced with the ink tank, so generic ones only cost $3 for black, $5 for color.

Yeah I'm considering selling my HP and buying an Epson. They're much cheaper to refill as there are generic carts available! Go with Epson, they make nice printers.

I beg to differ.
I have had an Epson Stylus Color 440.

The print heads NEVER align right. I would have to realign them every ten pages. Black lines would cover my documents.

Furthermore all Epsons are slow as balls. Their current line is the 770 and the 880, I think, which compete with the 648 series HP and hte 842 series, respectively.

In terms of performance, HP wins. Epson however is much cheaper if you go with generic ink. Hmm, I'm pretty sure there are ways to refill the HP carts... I really need to look into it, this 32$ a cart thing is hurting the wallet badly.

Refilling HP cartridges can be a pain though... I've given up after I lost two bags of ink (and yes, I followed the instructions right...). Expensive, but good printers.

Damn you people! This thread reminded me that I needed to pick up some cartridges for my 697C. So, I head over to Office Depot and end up buying a 970CSE! Damn you people!

Fantastic printer, BTW.:D

I have a 693C a 612 and an R80 Hp. I would not buy nor sell anything but HP if I expect to ever maintain any credibility in this business.(what little I have;))

Would you buy me that 842c too?

No? Then where can I find one for that price?

:)
