Should I paint my case?

I'm trying to decide if I should paint my case or not. Its currently the standard beige color, but I'm thinking of going with a semi-gloss black. So what do you think?

Pics of current color:

Thanks for the input.

I think I don't really care. it's your case.

Point being, what do you think. Don't listen to the masses. Do what you want to do with your computer.

If you paint it, be sure to get paint that is made for plastic. Typical enamel spray paint will melt your plastic into a goopy stuff that messes things up pretty bad.

Krylon Fusion does the trick.

Paint it something other than black, any joe schmoe can go buy a black case from the store. Get creative. Make up some stencils of a biohazard symbol or something to go with your fan grill. Maybe a large biohazard stencil that partially covers the window, but instead of painting the window you could etch it somehow so the etched parts line up with the painted parts. That would be cool I think. 🙂

buy a new case

No way! Painting and modding is way more fun. 🙂 Anybody can go to the store and buy a case... It takes a real computer geek to want to mod it. 😉

I just painted my Antec SX835 black and it turned out great. I used viny dye on the plastic pieces and it looks like a factory paint job. Good luck...

I would suggest not going with Semi Gloss, go Flat Black or a Semi Flat. I used semi gloss on my monitor and didn't like how it came out at all.

As for the drives, its a bit tricky but you can paint the beige drives, I went the extra step and actually removed the bezels and cd trays from my dvd and cdrw drives and painted them seperately, results Pic

If you paint your drives, DEFINITELY remove the bezels. But be careful not to break them as you remove/replace them. If you don't remove them, there's a good chance you'll ruin one or more of them.

You can paint it with enamel if youwant, just get the right primer that works for plastic and painted surfaces. Depending on your skill and patience it will turn out better than krylon fusion.

If I do paint it, I do plan on taking my sweet time finding the right paint, priming, sanding, removing drive bezels, etc. But now I'm thinking I might go with a different color, like a dark blue. I guess it depends on how ambitious I am after I upgrade and add new fans. 😎

There is a lot that goes into paining a case. The oil from your hands can spoil the paint job so you need to clean it really well. The finish has to be tuff or you can crack and chip the paint off easily. I doubt you will be happy with the final product. If you have an old case practice on one side of that to see what the paint will look like.

I'll take some when I get home. I also used it on my beige Boston Acoustic speakers and they turned out great.

The PC box will look the same whatever colour it is, at least now it maches the UPS (?), monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers...

in short do whatever you like 😉

I have lots of that same enlight case. I painted one black with rustolium and a roller. It came out good on the metal--as expected--but the plastic front looked like crap.

Paint your system however you like, however from that twins hanky i can tell your a fellow member of the state of 10,000 lakes eh?
