should i mount smb as supermount?

I want to mount some shares i have on a win2k server to my linux box. The thing is, the win2kbox isnt up all the time, so i would think a normal mount of type smbfs might not work well with the fact that the windows machine is not always up. I was thinking something like a supermount would work where it would unmount and remount the share automatically before trying to access it.

Or am i wrong and can smbfs handle an error like this without hosing the system? i know how linux absolutely hates it if you don't mount/umount things properly. I know i should make sure that the windows box is up before trying to access it, but i was thinking the everpresent What If...
