I was going to get a Opteron 165 but now it's out of stock till December 5th. I was hoping to oreder everything Black Friday. Here is what I was going to get:

Opteron 165
eVGA 7800GT
G. SKILL 1GB Extreme Series RAM
Hitachi DeskStar T7K250

I already have the rest of the stuff.

Now here is what I will get now:

Opteron 170
eVGA 6800GS
G. SKILL 1GB Extreme Series RAM
Hitachi DeskStar T7K250

Is this worth it? I know everyone loves the 7800GT but I won't be extreme gaming and actually might be doing more mulittasking than I thought.

Also just letting you guys know that 6800GS Is by far the coolest looking card I have ever seen. Here Is The Link for the 6800GS for $199

Yea I'm aware of that but what I'm really concerned about is money. I can't get a Opteron 170 and 7800GT I have to get one or the other. I'd rather get the 6800GS for now and then later on next year get the best Video Card out on the Market.

well than if you wnat the best bang for your buck card right now I would say get the i connect3dX800GTO and you can unlock it to 16 pipeline its was about 175 and still a very good card I dunno if they jacked up the prices because people figured out the mod but get that card for now casue it will still be able to play most games and you can save the rest of the money and put it towards that top end card in the future

Yea but the thing is I don't wanna take any chances because I have no clue how to mod it. Even if it the slightest thing I don't want to risk it.

What kind of monitor do you have?
If it's an LCD running 1280x1024 then the GS will be fine, and you can probably wait to upgrade. If it runs 1600x1200 or higher, you might be better served by the GT, as a non-extreme gamer.
Can you not shop around and see if anywhere else has a 165 in stock for a similar price?

As far as I can tell, no one (at all) has the 165 in stock anymore except for Newegg, and they're way overcharging for it ($475 vs. $300 elsewhere).

I think I'm getting a new monitor but I'm not sure my dad doesn't really wanna buy me a new one butr I'm trying to talk him into it. It will be 1280x1024 and I believe that is what this monitor is and I think I will be using it if I don't get a new one.
