Should I Learn C# and .NET?

I'm laid off and looking for a new job. In the mean time, I thought I might do some self training on something. My primary C/C++, with a some VB and COBOL. I keep on hearing the troubles the business side of Java and its future. I'm thinking about focusing on picking up C# and learn a few stuff on the .NET framework. What do you think? Worthwhile investment or not?
