She keeps telling us there is no way to create fusion on earth, even through destructive means(Fission).

that's impossible... a teacher who thinks the h-bomb is impossible, let alone a teacher of science

she's gotta be pulling your leg. i refuse to believe otherwise :Q

what amazes me is that there are people smart enough to design and create H- bombs

ok,i never went to school.....(ok, i did, but not college..lol)

isnt hydrogen fusion/fission the thing they cant create stably? i know we have nuclear reactors using metals ie uranium, but isnt Hydrogen the one that isnt stable and controllable?

if im wrong dont harass me please.......simply curious as to what i've got right or wrong in my thinking...

Operation Bravo , Bikini atoll 1956(?) 100,or 500 megaton H bomb air burst . Largest explosion ever . Makes for some wicked viewing , saw it on the Science channel last week , along with all the rest of the bomb tests and history of Bikini Atoll .

That was the most powerful US device ever detonated and it was about 15MT (exceeding the expected yield by about X3).

The Soviets tested a bomb that yielded about 50 MT. Though it would have been nearly impossible to deliver to a target.

uh, do you know what a megaton is? there's never been a nuke with a yield of 100 MT, let alone 500.

The Russians did design one with a 100MT yield. They tested a scaled down version of the weapon (the 50 MT test I mentioned). It was called the Tsar Bomba.

Yes. And, since then, both sides realize that such bombs are pretty much useless in war.
The blast from the Tsar Bomba was several thousand times more powerful than the blast at Hiroshima
