Should I keep them or take them back?

I picked up a couple new XP2600+ Bartons (not mobiles) in a pretty good deal at Fry's. However, after reading about how these guys are locked and no amout of L-3 bridge tweaking will change that, I'm not too sure if I should keep them. I am considering them for my K7D mobo. However, given the multiplier limitations, I would be at best stuck at 12.5 mult x 150fsb ==> 1875mhz.

These are retail cpus and I'd hate to rip them out of their packages at this point. What would you guys do?

I got them in a mobo/cpu combo deal for $79 bux. However, I just did some checking and it's worse than I originally thought. The default multiplier for this chip is 11.5, not 12.5. 12.5 is the default multiplier for the XP2600+ T-bred cpu.

Yeah, looks like returning them is the best choice.
