Should I keep my XSI or my D5000?

SAWYER

I have been using an XSI and am more than happy with it, I also have the 18-5 IS, Speedlite 430 EX and picked up a 50 1.8 from alfa. I recently picked up a Nikon D5000 with the 18-55 and a Nikon 18-135. I do not care about video so which should I keep and why?

Keep the ______ because its probably suitable for your needs.
Also, you can just upgrade the lens from the money from selling the other camera.
If you have friends that also have the ______, you can try trading lenses w/ them for fun 🙂

I just took both of these on my Canon and Nikon on no flash at 18mm. The Nikon looks way better

So many variables in one shot, you cant judge.

What meetering mode, what jpg processing (canons default is more natural and less sharpened)?

I agree with AkumaX , keep whichever you prefer to hold/use.

Pretty similar entry level cameras, but the Nikon may have an edge with it's articulating 2.7" screen (vs. Canon's 3" fixed), 6400ISO (vs Canon's 1600), and has video. BUT, you've already gotten some accessories for your XSi.
