Should I keep my 2002 Acura rsx or sell it for a Mini Cooper?

I'm getting kind of tired of my RSX and thinking about maybe getting a Mini Cooper. The problem is that I've had my Acura for only about a year now. Should I hang onto it longer or sell it and get something that i really like?

The good thing about the Acura is that it's been very reliable and it's a nice interior and shows well. But I think that a mini might be more fun to drive and I can get a good deal on a 2005 model. The downside to the Mini would be that I would have to spend about $4K more for a Mini..

clearly this is totally up to you, as its what you like.... but if you ask me, i'd keep the acura, the mini cooper doesn't exactly rub me as nice as an rsx.

Keep the RSX!!

I am biased though, since I own a 2005 RSX-S. ;)

Aren't you going to take a huge hit on depreciation after only 1 year? How much do you owe on the RSX still?

I only owe about $6K on the acura. I'm also worried about the re-sale value of RSX since they won't be making them anymore.

RSX is likely more reliable. first year mini's have first year problems. resale value of the rsx shouldn't be affected much by them not making the badge anymore, imho. it will still be popular amongst guys in their lower 20s

In general, it's fiscally stupid to buy a car and then sell it to buy a different car right away. What you "should" probably do in order to get the most out of your money would be, drive it until the cost of repairs/maintenance/trouble/headaches is greater than the cost of replacement.

That being said, it's your life, do what you want man.

The RSX is going to be discontinued, and there will be no replacement model. That will likely affect resale. But don't bother getting a Cooper unless you get the S. The base Coopers are pathetically underpowered.

hmm....well, then might as well stay. ur rsx has around 155 horses, maybe 160, dont remember. the cooper S has 160 or 170....and the Base cooper has like 116? or was it like 130. i dont know, all i know is that ur car is way nicer, so keep it.

If the RSX is a type S, and the cooper is a non-supersharged Mini, I'd keep the Acura.

If the RSX is not a type S and the cooper is an "S" supercharged, I'd get the Mini.

There is next to no reason to buy a used MINI as they barely depreciate. Keep in mind that the 2007 MINI is a redesign.

get both, then ram them into each other for your own little crash test experiment and post pics here.

Stupid move. I'd say no way, but I don't really care for the Mini. The RSX isn't the hottest thing on 4 wheels but it's a lot nicer than the Mini.

In some markets (Denver) they actually appreciate in value. Like mine as...

I recommend that you keep the RSX. You will enjoy driving it more if you bring its suspension back to spec by replacing (or upgrade) its shocks, tires, and maybe wheels.

Have you had any issue with your RSX? If not, keep it for a few years to get your money's worth. Constantly buying new cars is a waste of money since they depreciate so badly.
