I just got a refurb dell 2209wa for $160. The problem is when I switch modes (from analog to digital) it will start to whine a tiny bit.. you know make the pfizeioelectricity noise or whatever.

I can stop the whine by turning the monitor off then on. Do you think I should return it or is this normal?

cheers!

It sounds like the kind of problem that caused the need to "refurb" it in the first place that might not be caught by whoever was supposed to do the final test after it was supposedly fixed.

Return it while you still can.

Keep exchanging it until you get one you're happy with. Dell is great like that.

Well I can say this. I just got my refurbed today. I hooked it up via DVI and its has zero dead or stuck pixels :) And I see no backlight bleed at all. Their is no noise coming from it, its dead silent. Text is very sharp and colors are amazing. View angles are also awesome. So it was well worth getting a refurb for $160 :) it looks brand new no blemishes at all....

Dang, good deal, Zod!

DarkDSS, be aware that stock of the 2209WA seems to be rather limited right now. Also, what are the conditions for Dell refurb return?

Well since its defective i can get return 100%.. they pay shipping too.

I'm going to wait maybe 15 more days and see if the problem comes up again. If so -- i will exchange/return it. If not I will keep it :)

That's the only downside. The warranty is only 90 days. But I'm sure you can find one you like within 90 days. Its still nice having to pay $160 for an IPS panel.....
