Question Should I install windows on my SSD?

Dear computer experts

Recently I switched from an older msi gaming pc to an acer predator orion 5000 (i7, 32GB, RTX3080). This is an improvement in every way! However, the startup time is much slower. I suspect this is because the windows system of my new predator was installed on the HDD when I bought it. The boot time of my MSI was lightning fast because then windows was on my SSD.

The question I want to ask is, is it better to move the Windows operating system from my HDD to my SSD? If so, what's the best way to do this? And why would Acer install it on the HDD by default?

thanks in advance
Herman

How big is your SSD? your hard drive?

The easy answer is yes, move it. A better answer might be to [redacted]can that hard drive and replace it with an SSD.

Yes, move the OS to the SSD. Many SSDs come with software (may be a link to their website download) to do this.

No need to get rid of the HDD, keep it for bulk storage, but definitely put OS and apps on SSD(s).

Acer probably put it on the HDD by default because it's marketed as a gaming system and to cut cost, they only wanted to include one drive, and games take up a lot of space so a 2TB(?) HDD is a lot cheaper than a 2TB SSD... though 2TB SSD prices have dropped recently, so were probably higher when Acer made a BOM deciding to go with a HDD.
