Should I install Windows 2003 or Windows XP? (With Poll)

It it's not gonna be a server, just use regular Win 2k and save yourself a bunch of hassle. and if it is gonna be a server, I'd run it on Linux anyway.

Not gonna be a server, and I already have linux on a different server. I dont have Windows 2000 😛. I already have these 2 things and I'm wondering what I should use.

No point runnin Windows SERVER 2003 on a machine that won't be a server unless you really need the ability to have multiple remote desktop connections.

I installed the Server 2003 eval on my desktop for sh!ts and giggles one time, but it was a PITA to turn on all of the stuff you need in order to run it as a desktop OS (turn on hardware graphics accleration, manually install DX, etc). Also, a lot of low level apps like virus scanners and CD burning apps, even the Logitech iTouch software, doesn't get along with Windows Sever. If you are feeling adventurous and have a 64-bit CPU, you could always trade up to Win XP-64 Bit (I think you still have a bit more time before the trade-up program expires).

Come to think of it, I'd probably use Linux on a desktop machine too rather than run something I have no control over like XP or 2003 - always having to go thru the "Gateskeeper"( (c)2005 WAH) to make significant changes. It would be worth it to me to pay the $65. or so to get a copy of Win 2k rather than put up with that nonsense.
