i dont recommend it if youre going to stick with that 64 mb of ram. ram is cheap now so you could get some more. if you dont leave your computer on all that long the stability of win2k really isnt used. the voodoo 3 will be fine. i have one. if you do install 2k tho youll want to upgrade the voodoo 3 drivers.

deffinitely more ram before you start 128 is really the absolute minimum required but 256 is better.
Stability is the key word for wanting to upgrade to win2k , most programs that ran in win9x work ok , the exception being old dos based games.
also make sure you do a check to find out if your hardware has drivers for win2k and this can be a right b!tch otherwsie finding out at the last moment.
if your happy with win98 then stick with it , or if you fancy something diff and feel like a bit of a challenge then go for it :D

I agree with the others. Win2K really needs at least 128megs to perform at its best.

ditto on the ram issue.

but one thing to add....if 98 is nice and stable for you, why go to the trouble of upgrading? if you're not having problems, and there is no feature you're looking for, why bother?

I don't think win2k is good for you right now... not until you get more ram... chances are if you install win2k you will take such a performance hit, it won't be good for everyday use...

I don't recommend win2k unless you have at least 128 Ram...

If you like the stability of win2k, but dont wanna add ram, why not try winNT instead?

A good reason not to use Windows NT 4 thesedays, would be graphical issues. I mean, DirectX version and that...

About the other subject, yes, 128Mb of RAM is the minimum, besides a fast hard drive.

Greetings ammarr,

I used to tripple boot 95b, nt and Be with no problems with 64mb, V3-2k and BP6 mobo w/ 2xC366@550. I went to a win2kPro, 95b and Be trip boot. 64mb isn't enough ram for 2k. I upgraded to 196mb and have no trouble - solid and fast.

good luck.
